Road closed as firefighters help rescue trapped casualty following three-vehicle collision

TWO fire crews helped rescue a trapped casualty following a three-vehicle collision on Hollins Lane, Winwick, Warrington.

The road was closed as emergency services, including fire crews from Warrington and Penket,h attended the scene at around 15.45 yesterday, Tuesday.
One person was reported to be trapped in their vehicle – firefighters worked with police and a medical advisor to plan the best approach to release them.
The door of the vehicle was removed, along with the roof, to allow access to the casualty. All other involved vehicles were made safe. Paramedics also attended and cared for the casualty. The road was closed by police while the incident was dealt with.
Firefighters were at the scene for approximately two hours and 10 minutes.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 3.13 pm on Tuesday, November 4, police were called to reports of a collision on Hollins Lane.
“This was near to the junction with Watery Lane in Winwick, Warrington.
“The collision involved three vehicles.
“One woman is believed to have suffered an injury to her leg.”
The road has since reopened.
