UP to three weeks of road closures are scheduled to start in Warrington town centre later this month to allow a new power cable to be installed by Scottish Power.
Only one closure will be in force at a time, with Phase one on Museum Street due start on November 17.
Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows: –
Prohibition of Driving: Museum Street from its junction with Bold Street to its junction with Winmarleigh Street; Egypt Street from its junction with Bold Street to its junction with Cairo Street; Suez Street from its junction with Bold Street to its junction with Cairo Street.
Temporary Suspension of one-way Orders: The County Borough of Warrington (Various Streets) (One-Way) Order 1959 in so far as it relates to the following: Egypt Street – From Bold Street to Cairo Street; The County Borough of Warrington (Various Streets) (One-Way and Prohibition of Right Turns) Order 1968 in so far as it relates to Schedule 2 as follows: Cairo Street – From Egypt Street towards Rylands Street; The Borough of Warrington (Town Centre Traffic Management Scheme) Order 1993 in so far as it relates to Schedule 3 as follows: Suez Street – From west to east.
The Order will be effective from 16th November 2025 for 3 weeks, with the works being carried out in 3 phases and only one closure in operation at any one time as follows: Phase 1 – Museum Street – 17th November to 22nd November and 24th November to 29th November 2025; Phase 2 – Egypt Street – 16th, 23rd and 30th November2025; Phase 3 – Suez Street – 16th, 23rd and 30th November 2025. The restrictions will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Museum Street via Bold Street, Wilson Patten Street and Winmarleigh Street and via Winmarleigh Street, Sankey Street, Springfield Street, Palmyra Square North and Bold Street; Egypt Street via Bold Street, and Cairo Street; Suez Street via Bold Street, St. Austins Lane and Cairo Street. The restrictions are required to allow Scottish Power to install a new HV cable.
