A flood warning and flood alert have been put in place due to seasonal high tides impacting the Mersey Estuary at Warrington.
High tides are expected to reach the flood warning threshold overnight which may lead to flooding between 02:15 AM and 02:45 AM on 09/10/2025.
No other high tides are expected to reach the Flood Warning threshold in this current sequence.
The Environment Agency is warning people to start acting on a flood plan if you have one and are closely monitoring the situation.
The flood warning area: Chester Road between Brian Bevan Island and Arpley Railway Bridge and Arpley Road in Warrington.
Meanwhile a flood alert is also in place. High tides are expected to reach the flood alert threshold overnight which may lead to flooding between 01:30 AM and 03:00 AM on 09/10/2025. The impacted locations are:
Fiddlers Ferry, peaking around 02:00 AM
Eastford Road, peaking around 02:15 AM
Arpley Bridge, peaking around 02:30 AM
Knutsford Road, peaking around 02:30 AM
It is possible that river levels will also affect Arpley Road under the railway bridge.
The lunchtime tide tomorrow, 09/10/2025 will not reach flood alert, but the overnight tide on 10/10/2025 will pass the flood alert threshold.
