GRAPPENHALL’S tale of woe continued in the Cheshire County League division one continued with a four wicket defeat at the hands of near neighbours Toft.
Hopes were high that the run of defeats would end, as Toft were relegated from the premier division last year, along with Grappers.
But the Broad Lane outfit were dismissed for 166, with only Lucas Read, 36 and Sam Guest, 29 offering much resistance. Toft reached 170-6 without much difficulty.
In division three, Warrington also went down disappointingly.
Batting first against Hale Barns they hit 190, Harley Barratt hitting 34, Jonathan |Howell 32 and Aamir Ali 28.
Warrington used seven bowlers when Hale Barns batted but made little impression, the village side coasting to 195-2.
The result left Warrington fifth in the table which only a couple of weeks ago they appeared to be dominating.
Appleton picked up a useful four wicket victory over Aston, in the Cheshire League.
Aamir Akash picked up 4-17 as Aston hit 169-9. Openers Martin Cooper, 83 and Richard Buck, 48 lead the way as Appleton replied with 170-6.
Antonnel Atwell had a dream game for Lymm Oughtrington Park against Irby. First he took 5-58 and then hammered an unbeaten 102.
But it was not enough as Lymm could only muster 204 in reply to Irby’s 288-9.
Tom Whitby took 8-29 as Glazebury dismissed Wistaston Village for 107. But Glazebury were then bowled out for 74, with only two batsmen reaching double figures.
