Firefighters were called to an electrical cable that had fallen onto a hedge and was smoking. A cordon was put in place, and the electricity was isolated by specialist engineers.
Firefighters used one hose reel to dampen down the hedge and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
In another incident at 13:52 two crews from Penketh and Warrington were called out to reports of a fire in a field off Widnes Road, Cuerdley Cross near Penketh.
Crews attended a fire, measuring approximately 5 by 3 metres, in a field in Warrington. One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire, which is believed to have been a controlled burn that had gotten out of control.
