ONE taxi driver was suspended and two others face suspension following police checks in Warrington town centre area on Saturday evening.
A total of 27 checks were carried out as officers from Warrington Town Centre Beat were deployed on a Taxi Licensing Operation.
They were assisted by colleagues from the wider Warrington Beat Team as well as Special Constables from both Cheshire Police Special Constabulary and Specials from Merseyside.
The officers deployed across several sites around the Town Centre with the support of Taxi Licensing Enforcement officers from both Warrington and Wolverhampton councils.
A total of 27 vehicles were stopped, and drivers were spoken to with several infringements and offences dealt with, which led to the suspension of one taxi and the delayed suspension of two more. Several motoring offences were dealt with by Cheshire and Merseyside Police.
Delayed suspensions allow drivers time to appeal the decision.
