Bridgewater Community Healthcare has showcased some springtime growth in this year’s NHS Staff Survey results when compared against the North West average of NHS organisations.

Acting as an annual national temperature check, the NHS Staff Survey is one of the largest workforce surveys in the world. It asks healthcare colleagues in England about their experiences of working for their employer.
The survey is aligned to the seven elements that make up the NHS People Promise, as well as measuring two themes of staff engagement and morale.
These are broken down as follows:

  1. we are compassionate and inclusive
  2. we are recognised and rewarded
  3. we each have a voice that counts
  4. we are safe and healthy
  5. we are always learning
  6. we work flexibly
  7. we are a team
  8. staff engagement
  9. morale

When compared against the combined North West average scores of all NHS organisations, it has been another year of improvement for the trust.
Paula Woods is Director of People and Organisational Development at Bridgewater Community Healthcare:
“This remains a really challenging time for the NHS. But it goes to show the biggest asset to Bridgewater Community Healthcare is our incredible workforce.
“Knowing we exceed in all NHS People Promise themes, when compared to the North West average of NHS organisations, it is testament to the dedication and commitment that our colleagues and teams show day in, day out.
“Whilst there will always be improvements to be made, these results based on the regional North West picture, show we continue to head in a positive direction.”

All NHS trusts across the country are required to take part in the annual NHS Staff Survey. The confidential questionnaire asks staff for their views on issues such as equality and diversity, incidents, health and wellbeing, job satisfaction and violence. Its findings are used to further improve working conditions for staff and ultimately improve patient care.
