OUGHTRINGTON Bowling Club based at Stage Lane, Lymm is following up on last year’s Great British Bowling Weekend with another open day for the start of the 2025 season.

The club now boasts more than 100 members with an age range across 70 years.
The green will be open to visitors between 10.00 and 3.00 on Saturday 19th April for a go at bowls and a cup of tea.
Chairman Fred Taylor said – “This is a fantastic sport where grandparents can participate alongside their grandchildren. Mums and dads don’t stand on the side lines watching but join in and play together”
“The Club has teams in competitive leagues playing across Cheshire, but also welcomes those who enjoy a social game on a sunny afternoon”

Club Secretary Mike Smith Groves said: “The health benefits of bowling are recognised nationally – whether from the benefits of being outside, physical activity – not necessarily too strenuous, meeting other people – a good stretch of the limbs and a great way to de-stress after a busy day”
The Club can provide instruction and bowls for new starters to try things out and would be delighted to meet anyone interested on the open day or they can be contacted via email at [email protected]
