LYMM Parish Council is already starting to plan celebrations for the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Residents in the village know how to put on, and enjoy, an event. Lymm Parish Council is now inviting residents and members of local organisations to get involved and help plan a schedule of
events to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Those with ideas are being invited to attend a special meeting at the village hall meeting room (side door of the village hall) and get involved. The Events Committee is being held on March 17th at 6pm.
Bruno Peek, pageantmaster of VE Day 80 shares that “On 8 May 2025, we mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, our nation will unite to celebrate 80 years of peace since the end of World
War II in Europe. VE Day 80 is not only a tribute to those who fought for freedom but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that have defined our country ever since.”
Part of the suggested national programme is the lighting of a beacon, as well as the lighting of lamplights of peace.
Ann Johnstone, Chair of the Parish Council adds “Lymm saw fantastic celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and is now looking forward to bringing the village together to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. This will be a very special day and reminds us of the importance of freedom and peace. We are hoping that residents, volunteers and organisations will join us in planning another set of events and activities that the whole village can enjoy and celebrate VE Day.”
For those unable to attend in person, please submit your ideas to the Clerk by 5pm on March 17, to [email protected].
