TRADERS facing eviction from the CPS Centre in Culcheth have been thrown a potential lifeline, it emerged last night.
Writing on the Save CPS Centre Facebook page, they wrote that Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols had been in touch regarding an extension offer from the landlords.
She said she recognises “the difficulties that the traders here are facing, and the uncertainties this presents for the local community.
“Today, Tuesday 18 February, I have received information from Landswood de Coy regarding a potential offer of an extension for traders, following a constructive discussion with them yesterday. I am awaiting confirmation of the details relating to this, which may be subject to further negotiation. I will of course communicate these details as soon as I am in receipt of them, but I wanted you to be aware at the earliest opportunity that there has been a potential breakthrough with the owners, further to the information I provided in this morning’s meeting with traders, Parish and Borough Councillors. I hope to have more to share within the next 24 hours.”
Traders at the CPS Centre were left reeling after they were served with a 28-day eviction notice earlier this month on health and safety grounds.
Some traders have already left while others are continuing to operate there. A petition has been launched in the community to save the centre with many other shops in Culcheth displaying posters. So far more than 1,600 people have signed the petition launched five days ago.
The post on Facebook prompted a raft of support from campaigners, with many posting a fingers crossed emoji.

Nothing will happen, just empty words. The council will know damn well that this is going ahead no matter what
What the hell has it got to do with the council? They dont own it and the owners arent doing anything illegal that they have any control over
LOL ! a extension?. that in bricks and mortar? might aswell be, all the owner is doing is playing the game, keeping tenants sweet, be lucky if get another month out of them, wouldnt trust them either !
