New water main set to bring up to seven weeks of traffic disruption near Winwick Road

UP to seven weeks of road works are scheduled to take place on Long Lane near its junction with Winwick Road starting next month (Feb) to allow United Utilities to install a new water main.

The works will take place in two phases, phase one from February 1st for up to seven weeks and phase two for five days from February 17.
Local diversions will be in place.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:
Prohibition of Movement (Phase 1): Prohibit the left turn movement for vehicles travelling westbound on Long Lane wishing to gain access to Winwick Road.
Prohibition of Driving (Phase 2): Long Lane between its junction with Northway and its junction with Winwick Road.
The Order will be effective from 1st February 2025. The restrictions are to be carried out in phases as follows: Phase 1 from 1st February 2025 for 7 weeks; Phase 2 from 17th February 2025 for 5 days. However, the restrictions will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Phase 1 via Winwick Road; Phase 2 via Long Lane, School Road, Orford Green, Orford Road, Birchwood Way, Woolston Grange Avenue, Manchester Road, Lythgoes Lane, Winwick Road and vice versa. The restrictions are required to allow United Utilities to install a new water main.
