WORKS are scheduled to re-start again on Pepper Street, Lymm, next Monday, January 20.
Weather permitting, the remaining works, which were suspended over the Christmas and New Year period, will last for approximately 6 – 7 weeks.
Access to Pepper Street car park will be available from the Longbutt Lane side via the signed alternative route.
Local Councillor, Graham Gowland commented: “It’s great to see the works are going to restart, although it is going to cause some congestion for locals. The new setts look good, and while it’s been a slow project, I look forwards to the finished job. We should maybe organise a street party when it is ready in March!”
He said some of the newly laid paving on Pepper Street had to be lifted due to a gas leak, but the installing contractor will be repairing the damage, with the extra costs being covered by Cadent Gas, who had to excavate some new setts in the road due to a gas leak.
The choice of road surface was chosen following a local consultation, where setts were chosen over tarmac.
