WARRINGTON is under a Met Office yellow weather wind warning which is set to blast in on New Year’s Day.

The meteorologists issued the warning which is currently in force from 9am on Wednesday January 1, to 6am on Thursday January 2.

Forecasters say the winds will be caused as a deep area of low pressure is expected to cross the UK from the west. Gusts of up to 60mph are possible inland.
Residents are urged to secure loose items outside such as garden furniture, bins and trampolines.
For people who are planning to travel by road or public transport during the period of the high winds, they are urged to check conditions or bus and train timetables before embarking on journeys.
Coastal areas are expected to see gusts of between 65mph and 75mph on January 1 and into the early hours of January 2.
Snow is also expected to hit the region but Warrington is not part of a yellow warning for snow on Wednesday which affects Manchester and Lancashire.
