A SCHOOL in Warrington and St Rocco’s Hospice have benefitted from the generosity of customers at a local retailer.

Furnishings retailer Dunelm has run a national Delivering Joy campaign supporting good causes over the festive period.

This has seen more than 190,000 donations for 2,000 local causes.
In addition, customers have added their wish list for recipients on green labels placed on Christmas trees. The gifts have now been distributed.
In Warrington, St Roccos Hospice in Bewsey and a primary school near the town centre have been the beneficiaries of the scheme.

Colleen Harding, the headteacher at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary school in Shelby Street, which received Christmas gifts, said: “From the bottom of my heart, from the bottom of the hearts of our families, just a huge, huge thank you.
“They’ll have no idea the impact they’ve had on the lives of our children this Christmas.”
And a patient at St Rocco’s Hospice, who was given one of the gifts beamed as she noted: “Nobody has ever given me as much.” She then joked: “I won’t be sharing them, though.”
