FIREFIGHTERS were kept busy tackling numerous deliberate fires in the open around Warrington, yesterday, Thursday.
At 17:13 one crew from Warrington was called out to reports of a fire in a field off Delph Lane Winwick.
Firefighters investigated the call to a fire in the open on foot. Crews found two separate fires that were spreading into bushes. They used their water backpacks to extinguish. A third fire was also extinguished in the area shortly after. Police were on scene as it is suspected to have been a deliberate ignition.
Earlier, at 16:55 one crew from Warrington was called out to Wimborne Close, Warrington.
Firefighters used their water backpacks to extinguish a small fire involving logs and rubbish. Police have been informed as it is suspected to have been a deliberate fire.
At 12:20 one crew from Birchwood attended reports of a fire on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal on Thelwall Lane.
Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish a fire involving bushes and trees.
