Police arrest man on suspicion of affray after woman threatened at Bewsey

POLICE have arrested a suspect following reports of a woman being threatened by a man armed with a knife and hammer at Bewsey, Warrington, last weekend.

The arrest follows armed police attending an incident on Southworth Avenue last Saturday evening.

Police carried out a search of the area and could not locate a suspect but carried out investigations.

It has now been confirmed that a 39-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing affray.

Cheshire Police have confirmed he has since been released on conditional bail.
