THE team at Walton Hall and Gardens is celebrating the estate being named as the Wedding Venue of the Year, following the recent Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards.

The category featured competition from the likes of Chester Zoo, Grosvenor Pulford Hotel, Peckferton Castle, Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa and Wychwood Park Hotel and Golf Club.

Judges noted how the Walton estate is a unique wedding venue which offers “something a little different, with a wealth of history and access to outdoor space”.
They also highlighted how the estate “feels fresh and creative”, and in particular how the “ripple of benefits linked to local suppliers and produce is to be applauded”.

David Boyer, Director of Environment and Transport at Warrington Borough Council, said: “I would like to offer my congratulations to the entire team at Walton Hall and Gardens, who have all contributed to the success of the Walton estate.
“This award recognises the dedication and commitment of the team, and I’m so proud that Walton Hall and Gardens has now been officially recognised as a top wedding venue and tourism destination, not only in Warrington but across the region.”

The awards, which recognise Cheshire’s exceptional individuals and accommodation providers, eateries and much-loved attractions, were held at Chester Cathedral yesterday evening, Thursday 21 March.
A record 87 award nominations were received this year from across Warrington, Chester, Cheshire East and Cheshire West. Around 300 tourism and hospitality sector guests were present, as winners across 16 wide-ranging categories were unveiled.

Trevor Brocklebank, Chair of Marketing Cheshire and Deputy Chair of Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership said: “The record number of entries is testament to the pride those behind the region’s world class attractions and pioneering businesses have and just why our visitor economy is worth billions and attracts 50 million visitors a year. Another truly special night.”
