A popular village pub at Grapenhall, Warrington, has announced its shock closure, with immediate effect.
The current tenants of The Rams Head took to social media earlier today to make the announcement.
Posting on the pub’s facebook page the closure announcement stated: “We write this with great sadness, but wanted to inform you all that we have closed our doors here at The Rams Head Inn for the last time. 😢
“An incredibly difficult decision to make. Several factors have led to this, some out of our control.
“We’ve had an amazing 3 and a half years with you here in the village and we thank you all for your support.
“A huge thanks goes out to each and every one of the team who have gone above and beyond serving you all!
“For now though, thanks once again 🙏
“Everyone at the Rams Head ❤️ 🍻”
The statement was met with dismay on social media from pub regulars.
One regular posted: “So sorry to hear this. We’ve always loved coming to the Rams Head, always been well looked after as have our dogs. Thanks for your hospitality and wishing you all the very best of luck for the future.”
Another said:”Gutted to see this, such a great pub and one of our faves, had a 40th booked next Saturday.”
Another posted: “Absolutely gutted you were our fave spot and your staff are lovely!”
While another said: “This is so sad, the whole hospitality industry is on its knees. Their costs way too high to maintain. I am very sad to see you go, loved the welcoming hospitality!”
It’s not the first time the pub has closed, with previous closures following issues between tenants and the brewery.

I just hope it doesn’t remain closed for a long time unlike other public houses have.
Sounds very similar to the brief closure of The Rope and Anchor in Woolston which appeared tobe some falling out between the tenant the the brewery owners, JW Lees.
This one owned by Punch who squeeze every ££ from the pub in rent. That, together with the sky high local rates leave nothing for the managers to live on.
ALWAYS HAD GREAT FOOD HERE !
Hope they remember to lock the gate prevent any illegal encampments on the car park
