WARRINGTON Rylands increased their impressive run of results under interim player-managers Sam Wilson and Dean Furman by defeating Bamber Bridge 2-0 at The Hive Arena moving back up to 2nd int the table.
Bamber Bridge, who currently sit 12th in the league table, were hoping to continue their good run of form having won their previous 3 games. Earlier in the season Rylands travelled to The Sir Tom Finney Stadium where the result was a draw after a 90th minute equaliser from the home side.
The Brig came to Rylands and were prepared to battle it out for a victory but the home side stayed strong. However, it appeared as though several missed chances in the first half were to be the undoing of The Blues once again and the score remained goalless at the break.
Seven minutes into the second half James Pradic in The Brig goal tried to fool the onrushing Ben Hardcastle but failed; Hardcastle took the ball and tapped it into an empty net. Eighteen minutes later Momodou Touray also played the ball past the struggling Pradic and the ball was sent into an empty net again to double the lead.
The visitors couldn’t keep up with the energetic combination of Djavan Pedro and Mo Touray, and when Touray was through on goal again it looked as though a third goal was imminent, but it bounced back off the crossbar and ended up in the hands of the opposition keeper.
Warrington Rylands took control of the match from thereon in as their confidence began to increase, playing the ball more fluently from player to player until the final whistle.
With Hyde being held to a draw at Ilkeston Town The Blues move back to second in the league with a game in hand over them. Next Saturday 23rd March the two teams will meet as Warrington Rylands travel to Hyde United hoping to take another victory over them.
