Heritage centre seeks creative and dynamic volunteers to help turn great ideas into reality

IF your new year resolution includes volunteering why not consider a role at Lymm Heritage Centre?

The Centre has ambitious plans for 2024 that include enlarging its exhibition space as well as continuing to enhance the Lymm Archive and further develop its offering to schools.

“We are aiming to move forward on several fronts” explained the Centre’s chair, Alan Williams, “but in order to achieve that we need creative, dynamic volunteers who can help turn great ideas into exciting reality”. Among the key opportunities on offer are family activity co-ordinator and marketeer.
“The great thing about getting involved with the Centre is that there is room for everyone” fellow Trustee, Glynis Allen told us. “All are welcome whether you have readymade skills to offer or are just keen to give a helping hand.”
Last year’s aim was to strengthen the trustee team and that was achieved thanks in part to a Lymm Life feature. That brought the trustee team up to ideal number of six from four. The Centre is hoping that our magazine will help do the trick again this time round and add to the almost 40 volunteers who regularly contribute toward making the Centre such a success.

Lymm Heritage Centre first opened in June 2017. Since then it has welcomed over 30,000 visitors and thousands of school children. In addition, the Lymm Archive (thelymmarchive.co.uk), has gone from zero to over 5,000 photographs and documents that provide a unique and accessible record of Lymm life through the ages. Not just for history buffs, the Centre aims to add to the reputation of the village as a great visitor destination, with all the knock-on benefits that brings to the local economy. It is a registered charity, run entirely by enthusiastic volunteers.
