New speed limits set to come into force on Birchwood Park Avenue

NEW speed limits are set to come into force on Birchwood Park Avenue from a week on Monday, December 18.

It follows a period of consultation by Warrington Borough Council. It follows concerns over entry speeds on roundabouts.

The borough council has made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers on 6^th December 2023. The effect of the Order is as follows:

1. The Order specified in Column 1 of Schedule 1 to this Notice is revoked in part to the extent as detailed in Column 2 of the said Schedule.
2. To introduce a 40 miles per hour speed limit on the lengths of road specified in Column 1 of Schedule 2 to this Notice to the extent as detailed in Column 2 of the said Schedule.
3. To introduce a 30 miles per hour speed limit on the length of road specified in Column 1 of Schedule 3 to this Notice to the extent as detailed in Column 2 of the said Schedule.

The Order will be effective from 18^th December 2023.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks from 6^th December 2023, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
