Road closed following police incident at Stretton

THE A49 between Appleton and Stretton was closed this afternoon (Monday) following a collision that led to lengthy traffic delays in the area.

The road was near Cat and Lion pub was closed following a collision involving two vehicles.

Emergency services including police and paramedics were called to the scene shortly before 3pm. The incident resulted in lengthy delays on the A49.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 2.50pm on Monday 27 November police were called to reports of a collision on the A49, London Road, in Stockton Heath.
“Officers attended and found the collision involved two vehicles, a DAF lorry and a Land Rover.
“The driver of the Land Rover is believed to have suffered a medical episode.
“There are no reports of any serious injuries, but paramedics were called as a precaution.
“The road remains blocked at this time.
