Double celebrations as care workers named national champions

THERE were double celebrations at Cheshire Grange care home, Lymm as two members of the team were crowned national champions in this year’s Barchester Care Awards.

Carl Marsden, health and safety champion and Gill Jones, hospitality champion, were named national winners, beating hundreds of other nominees.

The awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 13,000 residents living in Barchester’s 257 care homes and private hospitals across the country.
Categories range from ‘Team of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’
to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.
Almost 4,000 nominations were received from homes and hospitals across the UK – and all the entries were of a high standard.
Carl Marsden said “I am so proud and must thank everyone who nominated and voted for me. It’s amazing to be recognised when there are so many others who work just as hard, keeping our services safe environments for all service users”
Gill Jones and: “I just can’t believe I have been named the national winner!. It means the world to be recognised for doing the job I love.”

Carl and Gill’s achievement was announced at a special national award ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Barchester’s many exemplary staff members who work tirelessly to deliver the best care to their residents and patients every day.
Cheshire Grange general manager Dawn Holsgrove-Smith said: “This is such a fantastic achievement, to be named the best across the entire Barchester business and to have two members of your team named is something very special- the whole home is so proud of Carl and Gill.”
Dr Pete Calveley, chief executive of Barchester Healthcare, added: “We have the best teams in the world and I couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of our members of staff – they are all absolutely amazing.”
