POLICE have issued a warning over cold-callers known as “Nottingham Knockers” operating in the Stretton and Appleton areas of Warrington earlier this week.

After being alerted by members of the public police managed to locate one of the males involved in calling door-to-door across the area.
He was been instructed to leave the area with the rest of his group and was seen being collected in a minibus.

Posting a warning on social media a police spokesperson said: “It appears two stories were being used today, one reported about being on a training scheme and the usual prison/ offender release scheme.
“Neither scheme exists and I would urge everyone not to purchase any item offered for sale, as in previous posts, if no one buys from them, there is little incentive to return to the area anytime soon.
No Cold Caller stickers are available if anyone would like one, please drop a message with your address via the local police facebook page and an officer can drop one off for you.
