POLICE at Lymm have issued a warning following reports of cold callers involving six men operating in the Lymm area yesterday, Tuesday, claiming to be from the prison rehabilitation scheme.

Local police received multiple reports of the males knocking on doors in Lymm trying to sell clothes and cleaning products on the doorstep.

Officers Continue to advise that there is no such scheme and these males are operating illegally. They also require a pedlars license which they do not have.

Police did manage to speak to three of these cold callers yesterday whose details were taken and moved off the area, however, they have been told there were up to six males operating in Lymm yesterday.

A police spokesperson said: “For future reference, if these males knock on your door do not buy anything and ask them to leave, if they become aggressive or refuse to leave then contact us via 101 or 999.
“We also do still provide these no cold callers stickers to place in your doors. We will be offering these to the residents who called regarding the issues yesterday and also will have these at Lymm Youth and Community Centre tomorrow from 9.30-11 am for our PCSO surgery.”

Lymm Police have also been out and about this morning to local shops in the area speaking to staff regarding the sale of eggs and flour during the lead-up to Halloween.
Officers have been leaving leaflets out at the stores and other locations in the village for local residents who do not want trick-or-treaters attending their property for whatever reason.
As part of the lead-up to Halloween they will also be speaking to primary schools to speak to the children about keeping safe during this period.
