A WOMAN has been jailed after breaking into the home of a vulnerable 85-year-old pensioner in Warrington.
Ornela Borisova appeared at Chester Crown Court yesterday, June 8, where she was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment.
The 22-year-old of Clough Lane, Huddersfield, had earlier pleaded guilty to burglary and theft.
The court heard that on Wednesday 22 February, Borisova, along with a second unknown woman, deliberately targeted an 85-year-old woman in Warrington, with the intent of breaking into her home.
The victim detailed that she was approached by the two women in a café in Great Sankey, their behaviour seeming unnatural which made her uncomfortable.
The pair managed to obtain the victims address and went on to steal her keys by distracting her.
The women proceeded to travel to the victim’s home on Loushers Lane and accessed the residence using the victim’s stolen keys.
The pair then ransacked the address whilst victim was out, stealing a large amount of money along with jewellery and medication.
Officers quickly identified Borisova as a suspect in the case and she was arrested on Friday 24 February at an address in Huddersfield by officers from Warrington Proactive CID, with help from West Yorkshire Police.
She was subsequently charged and appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on Saturday 25 February, where she pleaded guilty to burglary and theft from a person.
Following her sentencing, Detective Sergeant Alexander Reeves said: “I can only imagine how distressing this ordeal has been for the victim in this case, so I hope Borisova’s sentencing today will be able to provide her with some comfort and reassurance.
“I would like to thank our officers here in Warrington and their counterparts in West Yorkshire, whose quick work resulted in Borisova being brought in and sentenced swiftly.
“While Borisova’s sentencing today is a significant step in achieving justice for the victim, our enquiries to identify the second offender remain ongoing, so I would encourage anyone with any information, to get in touch with us.”
