WARRINGTON Wolves star George Williams and club mascot Wolfie will be special guests at the launch of Sandstone Supplies new premises run by husband and wife team Chris and Liz Eyres, on Saturday March 25.
The open day will run from 10am-3pm, to showcase the outdoor paving displays, and bespoke garden rooms by Garden Rooms of Cheshire as the business continues to grow.
Chris had his own landscaping business since he was 19 and knew because of a bad back, knees etc that he wouldn’t be able to do that kind of work forever.
He knew any other line of work he went in to would have to involve gardens or landscaping as it was all he knew!
Liz had worked in customer service since leaving college and between them thought they might know enough to start importing Indian sandstone.
Chris visited India in February 2018 to personally meet a supplier he’d spoken to over email. He wanted to check out their processes, quality and ensure they’d be purchasing from a legitimate and ethical supplier.
Their first order was three containers of Sandstone and the first sale was on Facebook marketplace, back in June 2018.
Liz was still working full time at this point, processing orders and completing the admin in her lunch hour and evenings. They had a 2 year plan for the business to be successful enough for her to leave her job and work alongside Chris.
It got busier quicker than they ever imagined, and Liz started to work for Sandstone full-time in Feb 2019.
They started with a yard on Folly Lane, a truck and a trailer and 4 staff, and now have a roadside showroom, a collection yard, two Hiab trucks and 9 staff.
