THREE “urban explorers” arrested at Fiddlers Ferry on suspicion of going equipped for theft have been released without charge.
The three males were arrested after entering the decommissioned Fiddlers Ferry Power Station during the evening.
The initial offence was reported as possible cable theft and going equipped to steal. But investigations revealed they were “urban explorers” so charges were dropped and the males released.
However, a female driver who had driven into the power station demanding to take photographs was arrested for drink driving and will be dealt with accordingly.
Police say trespass is a civil offence and unless trespassers have caused damage or other offences such as theft, they are de-arrested.
Police have been urging people to stay away from the site, which is dangerous while being decommissioned.
