Cafe and takeaway food plan for disused town centre car park

PLANS have been submitted for a cafe and hot food takeaway business on the disused Old Road car park near Bridgefoot, Warrington.

The proposals put forward by Sally Gallagher of DCDC Foods would involve a semi-permanent building, toilets and outdoor seating area. The buildings would be converted shipping containers and there would be parking for about 80 vehicles.

Open seven days a week, the business would open at 11am daily, closing at 10pm Monday-Friday and 11pm on Saturdays.
Monday-to Friday the business would close between 2pm and 5pm.
Once a public car park, Old Road car park was later used as a parking facility for Warrington bus drivers and then as a car sales site, although this closed after the pandemic.
It is surrounded by works premises and offices. Access is from Old Road.
Although close to the Mersey, the area benefits from flood defences and the application believes the risk of flooding on the site is low.
The application is currently being considered by Warrington Borough Council planning chiefs.
