Neighbours have lodged objections to house-in-garden plan

FIVE neighbours have lodged objections to a plan to build a detached house in the garden of an existing property in Whitefield Road, Stockton Heath.

Warrington Borough councillor Peter Walker and Stockton Heath Parish Council have also objected to the scheme.

But officers are recommending it be approved when it comes before Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee on Thursday, August 18.
Objectors claim the development will unacceptable loss of light to an adjoining house and that on-street parking will cause congestion at the busy junction of Whitefield Road, Belvoir Road, Red Lane and Westbourne Road.

Other objections relate to the loss of privacy, garden space and mature hedging, overcrowding of the site, “garden grabbing” and loss of character in the area.
Planning officers say the proposal will provide a small addition to the borough’s housing land supply without significant detriment to the amenity of the nearest neighbours and will result in no harm to the character of the area, nor highway safety.
