Planners reject scheme to demolish 1970s bungalow near conservation area

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have rejected proposals to demolish a 1970s bungalow to make way for a new dwelling with an outbuilding to be used as a garage and office.

The property is in Millbank, Lymm – and is adjacent to a Grade 2 Listed former lodge once associated with the former Danebank House and also just outside the Lymm Village Conservation Area.
According to the applicant, the bungalow is of no particular architectural or historic interest.

The proposal would involve demolition of the bungalow and construction of a two storey house of red brick with a tiled roof. It would have a single-storey garage and office building to be located in place of existing single storey garages.
Rejecting the proposals, Warrington Borough Council planning officers say the information submitted is not sufficient to assess impacts associated with the proposed development.
The proposals fail to demonstrate that a building of the design, size and character proposed would be appropriate on the site and would not result in an incongruous addition nor have an adverse impact on residential amenity.
They would result in a form of development to the detriment of the residential amenities of neighbouring properties and their gardens.
