THE Amazon fulfilment centre in Warrington has made a £1,000 donation to Warrington Youth Zone.

The new purpose-built facility for the town’s young people welcomes children and young people aged 7-19, providing more than 20 fun and engaging activities daily, including arts, music, sports, cooking, drama, and enterprise workshops. The charity also works with adults with additional needs, aged up to 25.

The donation from Amazon Warrington will go towards providing Junior Youth Club sessions at the Youth Zone, which offer young people aged 7 to 12 the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of enriching and positive activities, develop new friendships and learn new skills and interests, and enhance their self-confidence and emotional wellbeing.

James Pitt, Site Leader at Amazon in Warrington, said: “I’m pleased to see a facility like Warrington Youth Zone opening in our town. The last few years have been tough on young people, and this is exactly what they need to get out and about and make new friends. We’re pleased to support Warrington Youth Zone and look forward to building a relationship with the charity.”

Dave McNicholl, CEO of Warrington Youth Zone, added: “Thank you, James and everyone at Amazon in Warrington. We’re delighted to bring our new Youth Zone to the town and can’t wait to welcome local people through our doors. Everyone is welcome at the Youth Zone, and we aim to be a place young people can find someone to talk to and have their voice heard.”

The donation to Warrington Youth Zone was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than five million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
