LIVEWIRE’S longest serving volunteer is celebrating 12 years, which is the equivalent of 5,000 hours of mentoring and assisting coaches across the six leisure sites in Warrington.
Nick Antrobus, from Warrington, has worked as a care home worker for Warrington Borough Council for eight years and often finishes a long shift to volunteer at LiveWire.
He first became involved with LiveWire in 2010 after he retired from being a badminton county representative, and wanting to give something back to the community.
Alongside mentoring and supporting the team at LiveWire, Nick helps out wherever he is needed and has become a local role model.
Nick, 52, previously volunteered at Planet Blue Disability Project at The Peace Centre. He is a qualified BELA leader and works on the committee of the Millennium Green Charity in Appleton.
In 2012, Queens Park Rangers football star Anton Ferdinand presented the Positive Futures Volunteer Contribution Award to Nick at the Positive Futures Awards ceremony which was attended by celebrities and ambassadors including Will Young and Maxi Jazz.
At that time, Nick had worked with Positive Futures in Warrington for more than five years, acting as a role model and mentor for children and young people.

His enthusiasm and dedication to get the best outcome for young people has been outstanding. He often works a long shift at his job and then comes to help out at a session. He is truly a local hero!”
