Council confirms four days of road closures for Neighbourhood Weekender event

WARRINGTON Borough Council has confirmed four days of road closures for the Neighbourhood Weekender event at Victoria Park which this year involves a rock concert this Friday evening headlined by American rockers My Chemical Romance.

Residential roads around Victoria Park, will only be accessible to permit holders. The weekly Warrington Park Run events for Saturday, May 21 and May 28th have also been cancelled.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following:-

Prohibition of Driving & Clearway Order, except for Permit Holders, between the hours of 9am on Friday 27th May 2022 to 1am on Saturday 28th May 2022, 9am on Saturday 28th May 2022 to 1am on Sunday 29th May 2022 & 9am on Sunday 29th May 2022 to 1am on Monday 30th May 2022:

Prohibition of Waiting or Waiting for the purposes of Loading & Unloading – Friday 27th May 2022 to Sunday 29th May 2022:
Knutsford Road between its junctions with Wilderspool Causeway and Hallaway; Knutsford Road between its junctions with Hallaway and Grange Avenue; Knutsford Road between its junctions with Hallaway and Grammar School Road; Hallaway between its junctions with Knutsford Road and Wash Lane; Grammar School Road between its junctions with Station Road and Knutsford Road.

Footway Closure – Friday 27th May 2022 to Sunday 29th May 2022:
Howley Footbridge for its entire length.
The Order will be effective from Friday 27th May 2022 for a period of 4 days as detailed in this notice. The restrictions will be in place as and when the signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the Event Organiser for the duration of the event.
The alternative route will be via Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Manchester Road, Kingsway North, Kingsway South and vice versa or via Midland Way, Froghall Lane, Priestley Street, Sankey Way, Liverpool Road, Parker Street, Wilson Patten Street, Slutchers Lane, Chester Road, Walton New Road, Walton Road and vice versa.
The restrictions are required to facilitate The Neighbourhood Weekender Music Festival.
