Firefighters in dramatic rescue from Ship Canal

FIREFIGHTERS from Warrington, Penketh and Lymm were involved in the dramatic rescue of a man from the Manchester Ship Canal last night.
Five fire engines and a rescue boat were used in the operation around midnight.
Other emergency services including the police and the coastguard took part in the rescue.
In the early hours of today the individual was plucked from the water and handed over to paramedics.
The incident was near the Silver Jubilee Bridge at Runcorn, according to the fire service
Crews used a rescue boat to enter the water to search for and locate the individual, before using a rescue sled and rope rescue equipment to retrieve the person .
