Warehouse plan withdrawn after uproar from neighbours

A PLAN to convert a redundant agricultural building into a storage warehouse has been withdrawn following an uproar from nearby residents.

Nearly 20 objections were received from neighbours to the scheme in leafy Firs Lane, Appleton.

There were also objections from Appleton Parish Council, from local borough councillor Ken Critchley and from Warrington Borough Council’s own environment and transport directorate.

The application was In respect of Elton Park, Firs Lane and sought a change of use of the old farm buildings to storage use, external cladding of the buildings and the creation of hardstanding.

Objectors claimed the proposals would lead to heavy lorries using an unmade farm track unsuitable for private cars, never mind HGVs.

This would lead to traffic hazards and dangers for other road users, horse riders, dog walkers and other pedestrians who currently use.

It would also lead to an increase in heavy traffic using Firs Lane
