Warrington Wolves too strong for Toulouse

WARRINGTON Wolves made it three wins from three at the start of the Super League season by beating Super League newcomers Toulouse 32-18.

In the first ever meeting between these two sides in France, Toby King and Josh Charnley both ran in a brace of tries to send Toulouse to their third successive defeat.

The Wire handed a start to young half-back Reece Dean in the absence of Gareth Widdop, but it was George Williams whose neat kick through set up the first try for King.

Toulouse, who handed a debut to former Widnes full-back Olly Ashall-Bott, got on the board via a Chris Hankinson penalty on 12 minutes to trail 4-2.

Stefan Ratchford’s long pass put Charnley in for his first and then Dean set up King’s second to give the Wire a 16-2 half-time lead.

A long range score from Williams eight minutes after the break made the points virtually safe.

Ashall-Bott got Toulouse’s first try on 57 minutes before further scores from Charnley and Daryl Clark and a late Toulouse rally where they add tries through Romain Navarette and Maxime Stefani.

Charnley’s tries took him to a career total of 201, making him third all-time top try scorer in the Super League era.
