No further COVID-19 deaths reported as lowest number of new cases since last June

WHILE no further COVID-19 deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital, a total of 48 new cases have been recorded in the town – the lowest number since last June, although the number of people being tested has also dropped significantly nationally.

The 48 (85) COVID-19 cases reported by the UK Health Security Agency take the total number of cases recorded in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 67,024 (66,976).

Infection rate figures over a seven-day period have fallen again slightly to 713 (722) – 340.5 (344.8) per 100,000 population and remain below the national average of 450.6 (456.6) per 100,000 which continue to fall.

While no further deaths have been reported, inpatient numbers have fallen from 55-53, including one in intensive care, while nine further patients were discharged.

*With the Government dashboard no longer being updated at weekends, this will be our last daily update – although we will continue to report local figures on a regular basis.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 583 (582) 278.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 240.3
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 649 (649) 309.9 per 100,000.

*Dashboard stopping weekend updates
From the week of 21 February 2022, the UK Health Security Agency will stop publishing dashboard updates at weekends.

The dashboard will be updated as usual from Monday to Friday. Daily cases and deaths by report date published on Mondays will include figures from the weekend. These will not be separated out to show daily figures for Saturday and Sunday.
