DARYL Powell celebrated his first Super League home game in charge of Warrington Wolves with a comfortable 34-10 victory over his former club Castleford.
Josh Charnley scored a brace of tries to take him to 199 in Super League as the Wolves ran in seven tries.
They led 12-0 at half time, with Matty Ashton snaring a full-length interception to open the scoring.
Nice feet from George Williams added a second try on 14 minutes and despite no further scores, the Wolves had control.
These two sides had met in Powell’s last home game in charge of Castleford back in September.
In that one, the Wolves opened up a healthy lead and were then pegged back before eventually winning comfortably.
Although not as far in front this time, Warrington did open a door for a Castleford fightback when Derrel Olpherts got up for a try in the corner.
But Charnley’s first and then prop Rob Mulhern’s first in the primrose and blue opened out a sizeable lead at 22-4.
Then a handling error close to their own line enabled former Castleford centre Peter Mata’utia to hack on the loose ball and ground in goal for 28-4.
Jake Trueman got on the end of a high kick to get a consolation for Castleford before Charnley added his second.
Powell has enjoyed a perfect start as Wolves boss with two from two – even without mainstays Daryl Clark and Mike Cooper.
