Male Voice Choir finds new accompanist on its own doorstep

AFTER a search for a new accompanist spanning eight months, Warrington Male Voice Choir has found one right on its own doorstep, with the appointment of Elizabeth (Beth) Paterson as Principal Accompanist.

Elizabeth had been supporting the choir in a temporary role, since the choir returned to live rehearsals in September last year; playing at rehearsals and during concerts, including the choir’s very successful Christmas Voices Christmas Brass concert in December.

She stepped in following the departure of Anthony Whittaker, who left in August last year to take up the job of Head of Piano at the British School of Kuwait; as he said at the time “…I’m afraid it’s just too good a deal to turn down!”

At the same time as taking on the role of Principal Accompanist with the choir, she will continue with her role as Musical Director of The Decibelles; the successful ladies choir based in Heald Green, Stockport.

Commenting on her appointment Elizabeth said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be working with one of Britain’s finest & oldest male voice choirs, and I look forward to literally playing my part in the growth of the choir and to many exciting and successful events in the future”.

Elizabeth is the latest new member of the choir; following on from the arrival, over the last twelve months, of seven new choristers.

The appointment creates Warrington Male Voice Choir’s very own ‘double act’ as Elizabeth is the wife of Musical Director, Russell Paterson.
