NATIONAL care award winner Caroline Newton is to move to Warrington where she will head up care at Latchford care village Belong as the new registered manager.

She will be responsible for 24-hour care, including nursing and specialist dementia support.

Caroline demonstrated an exceptional performance at Belong Atherton, the Greater Manchester care village which is rated “Outstanding” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and she was also named “Best Carer who Contributes to Activity Provision” at the 2018 National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) Gala.

Originally from Wigan, her care career started at just 17, supporting adults with learning disabilities and later, working for nursing care providers around her home town.

Caroline said: “Caring for others has always been my calling; even as a young girl, when my grandma was poorly, I looked after her. More recently, I’ve built my career at Belong – they really look after colleagues and have been fantastic in developing my ambition.”

Caroline joined Belong in 2014 and was inspired to progress to lead senior support worker while juggling a young family and studying for the diploma in leadership for health and social care level 5.

Her colleagues recognised her commitment and enthusiasm while organising experiences for customers and so nominated her for the prestigious NAPA award.

Caroline said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Belong Warrington team. The village has a close-knit relationship with local people and Warrington is a wonderful town – I’m looking forward to working with the community for their care needs.”

Kathryn Farmer, general manager at Belong Warrington, said:: “Caroline’s promotion really is testament to her work ethic, as well as Belong as an employer. We know she’ll be fantastic in leading the care for older people and those living with dementia and I’m sure everyone will give her a warm Warrington welcome.”
