One more COVID-19 death as inpatient numbers rise and infection rates continue to plateau

ONE more COVID-19 related death has sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital, where inpatient numbers have risen over the weekend, while infection rates are continuing to plateau in the town.

The 205 (216) new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed by the UK Health Security Agency in the latest daily data, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 58,742 (58,537).

Infection rates over a seven-day period have fallen marginally again to 1,995 (1,982) – 933.6 (946.5) per 100,000 population which are now marginally below the national average of 934.4 (925.3) per 100,000, which have risen again for the third time in four days.

While one more COVID-19 death has been reported, inpatient numbers have risen again after recent falls, from 57 to 63, including 4 in ICU, while 14 patients were discharged over the weekend.

One death has been removed from the cumulative number of reported deaths within 28 days of positive test in Northern Ireland following validation.

Public Health Scotland has noted that the cumulative number of deaths within 28 days of positive test in Scotland is one fewer than the day before. They are investigating this.
