OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses after a 60-year-old woman cyclist received serious injuries during a collision with a car on the A49 London Road at Appleton, shortly before Christmas.

The collision occurred at around 6 pm on Wednesday 22 December involving a cyclist and a blue Volkswagen Golf on the A49 London Road at the roundabout with Hillside Road.

The cyclist, a 60-year-old woman, sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with any dashcam footage to come forward.

Police Constable John Teasdale said: “The cyclist suffered fractured bones as a result of the collision and a number of enquiries are currently underway.

“The A49 would have been particularly busy at this time of day and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken to us.

“The same goes to anyone who may have captured dashcam footage shortly before or of the incident itself.”
