Emergency tree work required following storm damage

EMERGENCY tree work had to be carried out at Stockton Heath as a result of damage caused by Storm Arwen

The trees damaged were in Mill Lane and at Ackers Pit (pictured) and Stockton Heath Parish Council received a quotation of £420 plus VAT for the work to be carried out.

Because of the urgency of the situation, it was decided to accept the quotation under emergency delegation powers following consultation between the clerk, the chairman and members of the land assets committee.

Once work was underway, the contractor advised that the tree at Ackers Pit needed complete removal due to weakening by fungal growth, rather than just the removal of a fallen bough.
The final bill was £550 plus VAT.
