Balcony plan for barn conversion is dropped

A PLAN to add two dormer windows and a balcony to a barn conversion at Appleton has been dropped despite there being no objections to the scheme.

The proposal had been put forward at Bramble Barn, Firs Lane, Appleton – a locally listed former agricultural building.

A report considered by planning officers stated the building was not of any significant architectural interest and could not be seen from any public place.

The proposal would enable the creation of a more useable bedroom, with two dormer windows leading to a balcony which would provide a view of Appleton Reservoir.

It was in accord with national planning guidance and with the local development plan and therefore should be allowed.

Appleton Parish Council had been consulted and had not objected.

But applicant Mr M.Bond had withdrawn the application.
