Sharp rise in hospital inpatient numbers as one more COVID-19 related death reported over Christmas period

WHILE one more COVID-19 death has sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital, inpatient numbers have risen sharply over the Christmas period as infection rates also continue to rise in the town with a record 794 new cases.

Since Christmas Eve, inpatient numbers have risen from 34-49 at the hospital, while a total of 31 patients have been discharged.

Meanwhile, 794 (553) new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed by the UK Health Security Agency in the latest daily data, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 46,679 (45,855).

Infection rates have risen again to 3,075 (2,796) – 1,468.5 (1,335.3) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which are above the national average of 1,238.6 (1,145.4) per 100,000, which have risen again.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 536 (536) 256 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 220.8.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 616 (614).
