Another record 417 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Warrington

COVID-19 cases are continuing to soar in Warrington, with another record 417 new cases confirmed in the town, on the day the UK saw more than 100,000 cases confirmed for the first time.

A total of 417 (312) new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed by the UK Health Security Agency, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 42,900 (42,483).

Infection rates have risen again to 1,665 (1,580) – 795.1 (754.5) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which remains below the national average of 832.4 (777.6) per 100,000, which have risen again.

There have been no increases in inpatients or reported deaths at Warrington Hospital, while seven patients have been discharged since yesterday.

Meanwhile, the UK has recorded more than 100,000 daily cases for the first time since the start of the pandemic. A total of 106,122 cases have been recorded in the latest 24-hour period – around 13,000 more than the previous high of 93,045 on 17 December. A further 140 coronavirus-related deaths have also been recorded.
