WARRINGTON-based family business Hillmount Cheshire welcomed Santa to their grotto in aid of Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals’ Charity raising over £500 for the children’s ward.

Santa Claus stopped by the recently opened garden lifestyle store to wish customers a Merry Christmas and to hand out gifts to children for a suggested charity donation.

They ended up handing out over 100 husky teddy bears, raising £526.20 for the Children’s Ward at Warrington Hospital.

Gemma and David Mercer at Hillmount Cheshire, said: “It was great to see some repeat customers and also lots of new faces. A very special thanks from all of us at Hillmount Cheshire goes to Santa Claus for taking the time out of his very busy schedule to bring so much joy to all the children and also thank you to everyone who donated. Hopefully, we can talk Santa Claus into visiting us again next year!”

The Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Maureen Creaghan, a key supporter of Warrington Hospital charity, also visited Hillmount Cheshire to meet Santa.

Hillmount, a fourth-generation family-owned business, can be found on Knutsford Road in Latchford. It is the fourth Hillmount store and the first to open in England, at an investment of £1 million, after the company started in Northern Ireland more than 80 years ago.

The company has also generously pledged to donate a husky teddy bear to every child on Warrington Hospital’s Children’s Ward this Christmas.

Helen Higginson, fundraising manager at Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals’ Charity, said: We at WHH Charity truly appreciate the support received from local businesses, the Hillmount Cheshire Christmas event raised funds in aid of WHH Charity children’s ward, whilst providing local young residents a chance to spend time with Santa! #thankyou #makingadifference

They are currently asking for new, unwrapped toys up to the value of £5 to be taken to one of their drop-off points by Wednesday 22nd December. Drop off points include:
