Twin Town Society celebrate a taste of France with Beaujolais Nouveau wine tasting event

MEMBERS of the Lymm Twin Town Society celebrated the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau with a wine tasting evening at the Spread Eagle pub in the village.

In the 80s and 90s there were numerous races to be the first to bring back the new Beaujolais to the UK.

The official release day is the third Thursday of November and the Lymm Twin Town Society was quick to enjoy celebrating the tradition.

About 40 members met at the Spread Eagle to taste the new wine as well as to taste a couple of other slightly more mature vintages, while also enjoying a meal of Boeuf Bourguinon.

A good evening was had by all – good company and good wine.

LYMM has been twinned with Meung-sur-Loire in the Loire Valley in France since 1967 and began after a chance encounter by a French man visiting the Spread Eagle pub!
