The M62 at Winwick has now re-opened following a “serious incident” near the junction earlier today
The M62 between J9 and J8 was closed at around 7am following a ‘serious incident’ and drivers were urged to find an alternative route if possible.
Traffic in the Warrington area remained heavy due to the North West Motorway Police Group led incident.
Emergency services attended at the scene after the carriageway was blocked following a collision.
The motorway was eventually open shortly after 1pm, although traffic remained heavy for some time.
Apologies for the delayed tweet. To confirm the #M62 westbound between J9 and J8 is fully open following this morning's police-led incident. The road was re-opened at approximately 1pm. No delays or congestion remain from this incident.
